ABOUT THIS COURSE
An Evening Event
Saturday, August 21, 2021, 6:30 – 9:30 pm ET
Outdoors in Nature!
Brighton Beach, Brooklyn
Join us for a special evening of ceremony at the beach under the light of a full moon in August also known as the Sturgeon Full Moon. We meet at Brooklyn’s Brighton Beach, where we may partake in a beautiful water blessing and cleansing, and in a sunset and moonrise ritual.
Shamanic healer and teacher Olivia Olkowski guides us in working directly with these elemental forces – the spirits of the water, earth and fire – and especially with “Mama Killa”, or Mother Moon, whose medicine invites a balancing of the divine masculine and feminine energies within each of us. As part of the ceremony, we will participate in a water blessing at a calm part of the beach; and we encourage participants to bring white or blue flowers to be used in the ritual.
Come experience the healing power of community, and of connecting to the sacredness of the natural world.
Note: This event is limited. Early registration is recommended, please register no later than August 20th at NOON in order to receive detailed instructions. Details of our outdoor location will be given to registered participants only. Plan to arrive no later than 6:30pm to be guided to our meeting spot. This event will take place rain or shine. Open to all levels of experience and traditions.
Instructions & Preparation: Participants will need to be mobile enough to walk a short distance on the sand with their belongings. This event involves several 5-10 minute periods of standing (during which participants may sit if needed). We will be seated directly on the sand and if you need assistance attending, please contact us early so we can arrange for some help to get you seated in the circle. Unfortunately, since we are located outdoors, we will not have chairs available unless one is brought by participants.
For those attending the Water Ceremony, please prepare yourself by wearing your swimsuit under your clothing; participants will enter the water at a shallow, calm part of the beach. Please know that everyone is welcome to attend, whether or not they want to participate in the water blessing.
We will follow the actual CDC guidelines on social distancing and face covering. Being outdoors after we all get settled into our seating spaces if you are comfortable, you can remove your face covering if you have been vaccinated, but we do recommend keeping them on to protect others who may not be vaccinated or are susceptible if you are nearer than 3 feet.
This event will NOT BE RECORDED. Attendance in person and in real time is required for this workshop.
PLEASE BRING THESE ITEMS:
– A towel, blanket, or back jack (if needed) to sit upon,
– A notepad, pen
– Face covering
– Mosquito repellent
– Water bottle and healthy snacks to share (optional)
– Anyone wishing to participate in the water blessing should bring a bathing suit, a sarong or wrap, a change of dry clothes
– Some white or blue flowers for the ceremony
– Great colors to wear for the Moon ceremony are white or pastels
