CLASS SCHEDULE
October 21: Eye Exercises and Chinese Eye Massage for Better Vision
Drawing upon the vision improvement exercises from William Bates, the father of natural vision improvement, we will explore natural, evidence-based practices from the east and west to relax your eyes and lessen visual stress. We will practice the 5 “B”s, five principles for better vision that can be practiced anytime, anywhere, to relax and rejuvenate the eyes. In addition we will learn Chinese eye massage which uses powerful acupressure points on the face and head to help improve vision.
October 28: Releasing Head, Neck and Shoulder Tension to Improve Eyesight
To promote full circulation of blood to your eyes, it’s essential to relax and open up your head, neck and shoulders. Often, the stress created in our shoulders and neck from typing and holding our head rigidly for hours at a computer can create chronic tension in our shoulders and necks. In this session, you will learn stretches to open up and relax your shoulder girdle and neck muscles so your head can float freely and comfortably on your spine. This sets the conditions for improved vision, as blood can fully circulate, cleansing the eye tissues and nourishing them with oxygen.
November 4: The Power of the Breath: A Cornerstone of Better Vision
In the east the breath is strengthened for the enhancement of life force energy, and in the west, it is seen as a powerful ally for immune functioning. Although we all breathe all day long, for many of us, chronic stress and lack of exercise has created sub-optimal breathing habits. In this session, you will learn simple breath techniques to oxygenate not only your brain and eyes but your entire body, so that life force can circulate freely, creating greater vitality and energy, and improving our ability to see with more clarity.
November 11: Connecting Outer Vision and Inner Vision: A “Vision Quest” to Purpose And Meaning
In addition to the physical act of seeing, it is important to cultivate inner vision, or the ability to perceive ourselves, our lives and our opportunities with clarity. “Seeing” extends beyond the physical to the spiritual and mystical. In this session, you will learn practices to enhance your inner vision which will help you gain new insights and connections to the outer vision of your life. If you understand that you are truly on a “vision quest”, then you’ll be on a path towards profound healing and transformation on all levels.
November 18: Putting it All Together: Creating a Home Practice
In this session we will review all the exercises we have done so far, choose the most important ones, and talk about how to create both a meaningful 10 minute and a 20 minute home practice. Dr. Grossman will also discuss the most important exercises for various eye conditions.
