Peak Mind: Find Your Focus, Own Your Attention, Invest 12 Minutes A Day

Sharon Salzberg & Jack Kornfield in Conversation with Amishi P. Jha

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

An Evening Book Event, Conversation and Q&A
Friday, October 22, 2021, 7:00 – 8:30 PM ET

Acclaimed neuroscientist, Dr. Amishi Jha, reveals that our attention system is a hidden superpower that enables us to function at maximum capacity despite anxiety and stress, achieve more, maintain healthier relationships and be engaged for all the moments of our lives. Research shows we are missing 50% of our lives. Why? Because we aren’t paying attention. From the constant buzz of our phones, the lure of our social media feed, to our unrelenting, all-encompassing and ever-growing mental to-do list, the demands on our attention have never been so severe. The result is an escalating crisis where we feel mentally foggy, scattered, anxious and overwhelmed yet unable to resist the pull of another attention-seeking email, zoom call, ad, message or notification.

Dr. Jha says that we actually use 100% of our attention at every waking moment, but what she discovered is that unless we create room in our minds through specific and targeted daily practices, we will have little to no control over what takes our attention throughout the day and we will continue to experience what she calls ‘attention degradation’.

In Peak Mind, Dr. Jha presents her in-depth research that concludes that it is only through mindfulness training that we can hope to improve our attention and performance. So she honed, researched and field-tested the minimum amount of time to be applied that would be an effective dose which she found to be a practice that lasts no more than 12 minutes a day.

Peak Mind offers new tools to harness attention to improve our brain health and even offers us new insights into where presence and purpose really come from. These are remarkably easy-to-follow, flexible 12 minute-a-day exercises that train us to declutter the mind and strengthen our focus so that we can experience being more present in our life.

This evening world-renowned teacher of meditation Sharon Salzberg will converse with Dr. Amishi Jha about her new book. Peak Mind. She will share with us how this approach can help us to focus without all the struggle, lose interest in distractions, and start to function at a peak state of mind.

Each ticket includes your own hardcover book Peak Mind. The book will be mailed after the event to participants with the current U.S. mailing address. We cannot mail the book internationally. Please allow 2 – 4 weeks for delivery.
