Join David Hanscom, MD and Les Aria, PhD for a day-long workshop that examines the relationship between the unconscious brain, designed to protect us and the conscious brain that is our true self. Understanding how the brain works is key to breaking free from stress and anxiety and connecting to our true selves.

There are no rewards in nature for being vulnerable, yet the essence of being human with thriving relationships is awareness and vulnerability. The unconscious brain is designed to keep us alive but it can also bury the part of us that connects us to ourselves and others. The flight or fight response is a powerful neurochemical response that increases our inflammation, speeds up our metabolism and sensitizes our nervous system.

The sensation that is generated is intended to be extremely unpleasant in order to compel us to take corrective action. The word we use to describe it is anxiety. By learning to separate this reaction from our conscious brain, we are able to help calm these impulsive reactions and strong emotions like stress and anxiety and ultimately help us connect with our true selves.

Note: This program will be offered online. Sessions of all our online programs will be recorded and shared with registrants after each is completed for 90 days.

The Experience

This is an interactive workshop where tools will be presented and then practiced in the workshop. There will be a lot of discussion in the large group and sharing in small groups of 4. You will be with the same group for the day. The didactic aspect will be a relatively small part of the day.
