ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

Food can be used as medicine and is also known as plant medicine. Plant medicine predates written human history as an approach to healing using herbs and foods to prevent and assist in the healing of various health conditions. In this class, we will look at the medicinal properties of common herbs, foods, and medicinal mushrooms used for centuries to enhance the immune system, relieve allergies, address chronic health conditions, support detoxification, and maintain overall health. Topics discussed will include how to incorporate healthy foods and herbs into your diet, as well as recipes, and tastings of Chinese herbs to add to soups and salads.

In this class we will introduce the basic elimination diet to help with inflammation; learn the concepts of Yin/Yang; what are the Five Tastes of Food; what does it mean to “eat more healthfully”; how to prepare health-supportive foods; add new recipes to your cooking that can heal specific conditions; use your diet to help prevent disease; and how to become more familiar with the art of Chinese Medicine Food Cures.

Other topics we will address include: how to treat common ailments such as allergies, digestive disorders, and cardiovascular problems; how to achieve a healthy weight loss; how to promote longevity; reduce stress and regulate your mood and emotions. We will also speak about our nutritional goals more specifically customized for our own body, which includes how to boost our energy, and enhance clarity of mind.
