ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
Buddhist thanatology, as embodied in Bardo Yoga, is one of the great gifts to humanity. Bardo (“gap, transitional process”) Yoga shows us how to practice death and how to “Die before you die.” In the Buddhist view, death is a journey of the heart-mind we can begin exploring now. This presentation will offer contemplations and brief meditations that can help us prepare and give us the confidence to also help others as they die. The Buddha referred to reflections on death as the “Supreme Contemplation” that ironically brings us more fully to life.
We will learn about the “bardo principle”—the small deaths that occur daily, and how we can use them to prepare for the big death; as well as the eight stages of the dissolution process marked by outer, inner and secret signs that help caregivers understand where people are in the dying process. When brought to fruition, Bardo Yoga leads to the death of death.
This workshop can be taken individually or as part of the Integrative Thanatology Certificate Training | An Art of Dying Education Program.
