Paul Stamets

Paul Stamets is the author of seven books. He is an Invention Ambassador for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and was inducted into The Explorer’s Club in 2020. He has received numerous awards, including the National Mycologist Award (2014) from the North American Mycological Association (NAMA), and the Gordon & Tina Wasson Award (2015) from the Mycological Society of America (MSA). His work has even entered the mainstream of popular culture. In the new Star Trek: Discovery series on CBS, the Science Officer is portrayed by an Astromycologist…. one Lt. Paul Stamets. Paul’s work with mycelium became a central theme of this series.

Mark Plotkin

Mark Plotkin

Mark Plotkin, PhD, was educated at Harvard, Yale and Tufts, and was one of the legendary Richard Schultes’ last students. Plotkin is an ethnobotanist who has worked from Mexico to Argentina but specializes in the tribal groups of the northern Amazon. He serves as President of the Amazon Conservation Team which has partnered with 55 tribes to improve protection of 80 million acres of ancestral rainforest. His most recent book is The Amazon – What Everyone Needs to Know, and his podcast series is “Plants of the Gods: Hallucinogens, Healing, Culture and Conservation.”

Brian Muraresku

Brian Muraresku

Brian Muraresku is the author of the best-selling book, The Immortality Key, published in September 2020. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University with a degree in Latin, Greek and Sanskrit. He is also is an alumnus of Georgetown Law, and has been practicing law internationally for fifteen years. His multiple media interviews discussing his book include CNN, NPR and Sirius XM. Michael Mithoefer

Michael Mithoefer

Michael Mithoefer, MD, is Senior Medical Director for Medical Affairs, Training and Supervision at MAPS Public Benefit Corporation. As co-therapists, he and his wife, Annie, have conducted two Phase 2 MAPS-sponsored clinical trials testing MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD, as well as other MAPS studies. He now focuses on training and supervision for research therapists. He has been board certified in Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Affiliate Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at MUSC. He and his wife, Annie live in Asheville, NC.

Annie Mithoefer

Annie Mithoefer

Annie Mithoefer, B.S.N., is a Registered Nurse who is now focused primarily on training and supervising therapists conducting MAPS-sponsored clinical trials. Between 2004 and 2018, she and her husband, Michael, completed two MAPS-sponsored Phase II clinical trials testing MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD. They have also finished a study providing MDMA-assisted sessions for therapists who have completed the MAPS Therapist Training. Annie has 25 years of experience working with trauma patients, with an emphasis on experiential approaches to therapy.
