Meet Kathryn Davis, who has 29 years’ experience as a teacher of qigong and other meditation and energy healing systems.

How did you become interested in this line of work? (tell us a little bit about your background)

When I was first exposed to Qigong I was training as a race walker for the New York Marathon.

A friend and fellow marathoner invited me to a class in the park. After doing the Qigong class, I realized that I had more energy and felt better than I did before I had done my days training.

Please share a wellness tip or word of advice that relates to the workshop you will be presenting.

Qigong can be thought of as a moving meditation. So there is a way that any activity can be done using the principles taught in the class. It involves bringing our awareness and our breath to our movements. When we sink our awareness into our body’s activities, it tends to reduce excessive thinking and worry and allows us to embody the present moment.

What or who inspires you? (This could be anything from your mentor to your favorite quote)

I am most inspired by my students. Those who embraced these simple practices and were able to transform their health.

What personal or professional accomplishments are you most proud of?

I have been blessed to be able to teach consistently for almost 30 years. Very often for small places, such as churches, veterans administration, community health centers, for the homeless and the like. I’m proud of having had the opportunity to bring this powerful practice to people who might not otherwise have had access to these life changing practices
