Spotlight on Roger Jahnke, OMD:

Roger Jahnke, OMD,
is the founder and CEO of Health Action Synergies and the director and chief instructor of the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi in Santa Barbara, California. As the author of The Healer Within, Roger has dedicated his entire professional life to sharing the powerful ancient healing traditions that come from China. He is the co-founder and recent chairperson of the board of the National Qigong Association.

“Qigong brings together a body practice, a breath practice, a mind-focusing practice, and a self-applied massage practice — all into one integrated process. It is so efficient because it brings all these pieces that we know are so important into one thing.” Roger Jahnke.

TESTIMONIAL:
“The Awakening the Healer Within: Medical Qigong Practice Leader Certificate Training with Dr. Jahnke was awesome. I continue to practice those basic principles of breathing from a mindfulness perspective based on the Qi/Chi– and that has been so empowering for me as a U.S. Veteran with military war-related illnesses. “You notice what you notice without judgment,” but breathing balances all things in life. Namaste”  – Elk Whistle

Spotlight on Robin Rose Bennett

Robin Rose Bennett is a storyteller, writer, and herbalist. She has been offering classes in WiseWoman Healing Ways: Herbal Medicine and EarthSpirit Teachings since 1986 – at herb conferences, festivals, clinics, medical and nursing schools, and most joyously, outside with the plants.

“Renewing your relationship with plants gives you back a vital piece of yourself that you might not even have realized was missing, other than as a sense of feeling disconnected, isolated, and lonely. Plants live in communities and they can help you remember you are part of a larger community of beings… This deep healing for self and community begins to happen when you do something as simple as taking a homemade herbal medicine to help you heal.” Robin Rose Bennett

TESTIMONIAL
“Robin is an exceptional teacher. Her extensive knowledge of the gifts that plants have to offer, combined with her love of Mother Earth, and her commitment to making this planet a better place to live all come together in her teaching. It is a joy to spend time in her classroom, whether in person or virtually.”

Spotlight on Jan Booth, AOD Faculty Facilitator:

Jan Booth MA, RN,
has worked as a nurse for many years at the intersection of quality of life and end of life, as a hospice/palliative care nurse and as an end-of-life coach and educator. She serves as faculty for the International Nurse Coach Association and the Conscious Dying Institute, and is the author of Re-Imagining the End-of-Life: Self-Development & Reflective Practices for Nurse Coaches.

Jan Booth is the Integrative Thanatology Certificate Training Facilitator. She will offer student support, counsel, community building ideas and creative collaborations. She will develop assignments and practices throughout the program including mid-term and final assignments. The facilitator will also be available for online/telephone advice and mentorship as well as creating opportunities for group meetings and creative collaborations outside the class—including study groups.

“I’m heartened by the emergence of a new leading edge of end-of-life care. These emerging models may be a sign that Americans are moving towards a tipping point in our cultural conversation about death and dying. Big shifts and transformations are shaking things up. Whether the new models are drawing from older wisdom or from fresh thinking, the central theme appears to be the returning of death to its place in the cycle of living and dying and to its place in the center of our families and communities. People are finding creative ways to bring death more into the light of day, bringing with it a sense of naturalness and familiarity. I clearly see a re-calibration away from the direction of modern techno-medical dying, moving instead towards dying as a meaningful developmental stage of life.” Jan Booth

TESTIMONIAL:
“I loved the well roundedness of this program – the title perfectly describes what I loved, “Integrative Thanatology”. It truly was integrative, and each of the presenters were passionate about their topic. There was a good amount of interaction time to process the information with presenters, and also other participants in the program. I felt like there was a lot of intention put into this program, and I really appreciate that.” — Laurie Rhody, AOD Alumni

Spotlight on LORRAINE GOLDBLOOM:

Lorraine Goldbloom is a lead instructor of VortexHealing® and has worked in the healing field for over 20 years. Her background as a personal trainer, yoga instructor and Reiki Master gives her a breadth and depth of experience in the healing arts.

“The philosophy of  VortexHealing® is that all of life is One, expressing Itself as this experience of creation. The common experience of life is one of separation, that we are a particular being, essentially separate from everything else in creation and separate from the Universal Source of creation. This creates all kinds of issues and false identities that, over time, imprint or condition every level of the human system. The web of this conditioning is incredibly deep, creating blockages and distortions in the energy system. The intent of  VortexHealing® is to release this conditioning on every level, restoring emotional balance and energetic strength so that health prevails.” Lorraine Goldbloom

Spotlight on Peeka Trenkle, MDiv, Featured Presenter:

Peeka Trenkle holds a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. With 40 years of experience as an intuitive healer, herbalist and homeopathic consultant, her deep interest lies in the integration of spiritual and physical healing and how our relationship with the natural world affects our well-being.

“Herbs have been used in every culture throughout history for food, medicine, ceremony, pleasure and beauty. Each culture has developed herbal therapies that are specific to its region, and the unique needs of each region are always met by what naturally grows there...We can learn a great deal about our own healing by watching what happens naturally in our local areas.” Peeka Trenkle
