How did you become interested in this line of work? (tell us a little bit about your background)
About 15 years ago I left my corporate job and started my own design business. I loved helping people create inspiring spaces, but it always felt like something was missing. When I started to practice yoga (I even did a full yoga teacher training) and began sitting and meditating, something shifted in me. I wanted to do energy work. Feng Shui was a natural progression for me. I had always dabbled in Feng Shui, but I wanted to dive in deeper. I enrolled in The Open Center’s three year Feng Shui Masters BTB program. After that my business completely shifted to Feng Shui design and consultation, and I have never looked back.
Please share a wellness tip or word of advice that relates to the workshop you will be presenting.
Ring a bell nine times to clear the qi in your home. Allow each ring to fully resonate and diffuse through the space. Only begin a ring after the previous one is complete. Listen carefully for each ring and visualize the waves passing through all parts of your home.
What or who inspires you? (This could be anything from your mentor to your favorite quote)
This is a quote for one of my mentors and teachers Katherine Metz’s
“There is a simple, natural, harmonious magic to it [Feng Shui], to which we are all in tune if we can learn to listen. Just as a work of art moves us to a dimension that words cannot reach, the places that we create can move us beyond the rational, the external and the objective, to a place of meaning and reverence. Trust what your heart is thinking.” — Katherine Metz
What personal or professional accomplishments are you most proud of?
In 2017, Anjie Cho and I founded the Mindful Design Feng Shui School, where we teach the practice of BTB Feng Shui to students from all over the world. I get an enormous sense of pride when I see my students absorbing and applying the tools and techniques of this amazing practice. I also recognize and acknowledge that these Feng Shui practices are part of the Black Sect (BTB) Feng Shui lineage with deep wisdom and roots. When we teach our students, we are a branch on a great tree that has grown from these deeper lineage roots.
